Two interesting facts about this engagement session:

1) They were the first couple to get infront of my new Contax film camera.

2) Krystal and Seth are probably the most camera shy people I have ever met.

I don’t know about you but by looking at the photos, I’d say the camera, film and early morning sun loved them. I really had a blast shooting these guys and it was extra fun being able to use my Contax 645 film camera for part of the shoot. The camera is a beast to carry around but it’s well worth it! The first few images and a few of the detail photos were shot with film. With a little patience, the right light and composition, you get beautiful images straight out of the camera. The naturally beautiful, soft, warm images bring you to the moment the photo was taken. In these photos you can sense the calmness of the water, the quickly dissipating morning fog and the rising sun that’s warming up everything in its path. And the scene only gets better as two really good looking people stand amidst it all. Thank you Seth and Krystal for being such fantastic subjects. You two are obviously not as awkward as you think in front of the camera! You guys are going to be “that super cute couple in those wedding photos” very soon  ;)

Enjoy!

Last Sunday I did some engagement photos for my good friends Lauren and Rob. I’m sort of at that age where marriage and babies is the natural progression in life, so I’m starting to see it among my friends just as much as everyone else. It’s one thing to hear of people I knew from high school getting married and what not but it’s another thing to see everything progress from the beginning into this stage, into marriage. I’m so happy and excited for the two of them on their engagement! I’m even more excited for the food that’s going to be at this wedding haha. The day is surely going to be beautiful, not just in decor and details (Lauren has great tastes with this kind of stuff), but also in what it means to them and all those who will be there to share in their joy. Can’t wait! I’m going to be a bridesmaid so I better find a dress that gives enough eating room. I don’t care, I have no shame. I love food. Deal with it. Happy wedding!

Inspired by one of my favourite movies, I decided to do this shoot on what seemed to be one of the coldest days of the year haha. If you haven’t seen the film Into the Wild you should. It’s heavy, sad, interesting and has just enough humour so you don’t get totally depressed. Adapted from a book that was based on true events, Into the Wild is one of the few instances where the movie is better than the book. My favourite quote from the film: “Happiness only real when shared”

I share with you what makes me happy :)

On September 14 it was the 2nd Annual Comport Charity Golf Event, which raised money for the Stronach Regional Cancert Center and OSPCA. Weather was perfect at Westview Golf Club and the turnout was great! They also had special guest, former Toronto Maple Leafs captain, Wendel Clark, who signed copies of his book and hit the greens with some lucky golfers. Can’t say that I’ve ever played a real game of golf, outside of mini putt, but I think the game might be too quite for me. I get too excited about things and usually get loud haha, so this might not be the game for me. Anyway, it was pretty fun day. I got to drive around the course on a golf cart shooting and hang out with Wendel Clark for a few holes.

Alright so I want to hook someone up with an autographed copy of his book “Wendel Clark: My Life in Hockey.” If you want to win this book, all you have to do is head over to the Navy Nhum Photography Facebook page and let me know you want to win by responding to the post about the contest with NAVY HOOK ME UP! I WANNA WIN! On Friday September 24th, I’ll pick a winner at random from all the responses. Easy as pie! Special thanks goes out to Micheal and Jen for letting me shoot. For now, check out the photos from the event!

Took a break from the typical Saturday wedding shooting and hung out with my cousin and a few of his buddies for a different kind of shooting. No one got hurt in the making of this blog post. The guys play something similar to paintball but using small pellets instead.  Even though they were only replicas, guns are scary! I think I’ll stick to my good ol’ Super Soakers.

Thanks to the guys for letting me ‘shoot’ them and to Mr. Scott for all the halloween chocolate haha.
