A throwback to one of my favourite shows. Sure Lost it’s been off the air for years now but that’s why Netflix is so great :) When I initially finished the series two years ago I couldn’t help but think how great it would have been to have followed it when it was on the air. I remember the hype and excitement around each new episode and it would’ve been a lot of fun to be a part of that, especially during the last season and finale. As with most long running shows, there are a few skippable episodes but overall, another fun show with some memorable lines and characters. I just realized I should have tried to capture some black smoke in this shot (if you’ve seen the show you’ll know what I’m talking about).

For awhile I couldn’t stand the characters from the show because well, they’re jerks and sometimes a little obnoxious. However, after actually sitting through a handful of episodes, I realized this is exactly what this show is about, loveable jerks who are sometimes so dumb you can’t help but laugh at the shenanigans they get into. The show is about a group of five friends who own and bar and do random stuff like getting lost at the sea with a rum soaked ham, trying to sell gasoline door to door, faking their own deaths, having strange orgies and attempting to make Lethal Weapon 6  all while having Danny Devito as a side kick. His character is full of great storylines and quotes! It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ain’t no Cheers and the comedy is pretty raw but provides a good laugh just the same. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia currently airs on FX Networks.

And here’s a classic clip from the show. Kitten Mittens, you’ll be smitten!

HER PRIORITIES: capture terrorists, drink wine, eat.
MY PRIORITIES: eat chips, watch Homeland, eat dip.

No one can resist the Claire Danes cry. Whether you love it or hate it, you have to admit that Claire Danes plays the role of badass/somewhat unstable CIA agent Carri Mathison perfectly. Homeland is the only show that I’ve ever watched that actually made me gasp out loud. Seriously, sometimes I can’t handle the suspense. Another binge worthy show that will help you kill many hours and leave you thinking WTF (in a good way) at the end of each episode.

And for those who are wondering, the fortune cookie says “A plan is only as good as those who see it through.”

The first in the TV Dinners series was Dexter, everyone’s favourite blood splatter analyst/serial killer. With great performances from its actors week after week and clever writing, it wasn’t hard to get hooked on this show only after 1 or 2 episodes. It also has a beautiful opening sequence with some great shots of food. Michael C. Hall does a fantastic job of making a serial killer lovable and Jennifer Carpenter’s character Deb (Dexter’s sister), is just hilarious with her potty mouth and sometimes emotional cray-crayness. Even though the show centred around some dark and disturbing topics, there was always some great comedic relief, usually laced with a torrent of curse words. For example Deb’s loving words about her brother’s baby “A baby?! A motherfucking roly-poly chubby-cheeked shit-machine, are you kidding me?!” and her thoughts on someone messing with her investigation, “I could give a fuck who you fuck, just don’t fuck with my investigation you fuck.” LOL. Such a good show. Watch it if you haven’t already!

During my ongoing exploration of food photography I became inspired to do a photo series imagining what my favourite tv show characters would eat. So far I’ve learned that a) I don’t watch enough tv shows (probably a good thing) b) people on tv need to eat more. I realize that unless it’s part of the storyline, it is something that’s implied and doesn’t necessarily have to be shown but man, it sure would make this series a little easier haha.

Tonight’s photo is an ode to The Walking Dead and the season finale airing tonight on AMC. It took me awhile before I finally got to watching the show but it’s definitely become one of those shows where “just one more episode” turns into four and I’ve eaten a whole bag of chips. When I first started this series, I wanted to try to keep it simple and focus on the food but it’s just too fun with all the props. Thank goodness I have friends with interesting hobbies which in turn means great props! Now for those who are wondering why there are no human limbs or guts in a food shot related to The Walking Dead, it’s because this is the human/Daryl Dixon menu.  Zombie menu items would be way to hard to source anyway.

A little behind-the-scenes info on this shot, I chipped a tooth nibbling on one of those birds and a bone haha. Oops. I love food photography! I’ll post the rest of the photos from the series shortly!
