It was a perfect day for an engagement session down by waterfront. Joseph plays hockey, Tessa plays baseball and they both love football – a perfect match :)

I don’t think these two are cool because he pretty much has the same name as me or that his mom’s birthday is the same as my mom’s or that even though we were teaching in Korea at different times, any one of us can bring up a random memory about Korea and we’ll know exactly what the person is talking about. No, these two are cool just because they were so much fun. Even though we only met last year to start planning their wedding, I feel like my conversations with Nav and Amarta resemble how I would converse with friends I’ve known for years. These guys are hilarious! I had such a fun time that afternoon. Something about chasing birds and ducks always makes me laugh. I know, I’m 5 years old. Whatever, it’s fun to run around with your arms flailing in the air and watch people do the same.
I cannot wait to see these two this weekend and celebrate their wedding! Happy wedding week Amarta & Nav!
Just wanted to wish Krystal & Seth happy anniversary today! One year ago these crazy kids tied the knot at the beautiful Pinestone Resort in Haliburton. A really lovely and fun couple who were so accommodating and just a pleasure to hang out with. Congratulations Krystal & Seth and I wish you guys many more anniversaries!
And I loved how fun these ladies were!
I’m not going to lie, I like shooting a lot more than sitting at my computer. It seems like I’m starting all my recent posts with something about not posting for awhile so obviously I need to work on this but man, this summer was insane. I moved, I went to Costa Rica, I shot tons of weddings, I went to weddings as a guest (yay finally!) and yes, I switched from Nikon to Canon haha. Now it’s September and I’m desperately trying to hang on to any ounce of summer left…which isn’t much considering it’s only 5°C right now. But it’s going to warm back up this week and I’m going to have my one Corona on a patio! Hurray!
Anyway, on to more important things like this super hot couple and their awesome engagement session! Julie and Keith are the type of couple that I can photograph all day. They’re fun and easy going and clearly the camera loves them. Normally sessions go for about 2 hours but we definitely went into 3 hours and if it had stayed warm out, we probably would’ve been out there for at least another hour. I don’t think I’ve ever shot through so much film for an engagement session! Julie and I go way back to high school days and after all these years not much has changed. She’s still one of the nicest people I know and her laugh is contagious. You can’t help but be in a good mood around her. And although I just met Keith, I can tell he’s a great guy and is a perfect match for Julie. Not to mention he has a great head of hair! I even told him that haha. I had so much fun hanging out with these guys and really can’t wait for their wedding!
Back in November I held a photo contest and I finally got to meet and photograph the lucky winners a few weeks ago! Meet Jesse and Joe! The recently engaged couple decided to use their free session for some engagement photos. They wanted to incorporate Jesse’s horse into the session and so I headed out to the Pontypool! I had never heard of Pontypool before so naturally I would Google it. I probably should have included Ontario in the search because instead of finding some photos of a small town in Ontario, I discovered that Pontypool is also the name of a horror movie from 2008…actually according to IMDB it’s a “psychological thriller in which a deadly virus infects a small Ontario town.” Huh…not exactly what I was looking for. Well it turns out that the place Pontypool, Ontario is a tiny little town with a lovely scenic drive from Newmarket. That was much better :)
Aaaaanyway, congratulations again to Jesse for winning and thank you to everyone who participated! Warm summer day, beautiful horses, nice couple, open landscape and electric fences – good times! Check out their photos and feel free to leave a comment, joke or Pontypool movie review below!
And now for the bonus… Here is the exact moment I got shocked by the electric fence haha. Clearly I got in a little too close for the photo. The jolt made me press the shutter and alas helped me create this masterpiece! :)
