Good news: My friends Nancy & Brendan are getting married this summer! :)
Bad news: I can’t make it to the wedding because I was already booked to shoot another :(
Extra bad news: I can’t make it to the stag and doe tomorrow either because of the Fling into Spring Photo Shoot

Great news!: We had some time to hang out and do a shoot last weekend in Toronto. I’ve been to the graffiti alley in Toronto a few times and each time it gets sketchier. I was extremely happy to have Brendan there because interesting characters seem to show up along that stretch of concrete and art. First we were pursued by a homeless man for change and then two teenagers showed up in the alley with a 12pack and watched us. Looking back, I think I should have taken up their offer to be extras for the shoot as I think it could have made some interesting photos. Either way, if you decide to venture down there you should go with a friend. Besides, the area is so cool you’ll probably want to discuss the amazing art with someone :)

Anyway, we had a great time getting some fun shots, some random and some a little more engagementy (that’s definitely not a word). For a guy who’s from Timmins and a girl who’s from Sudbury, I don’t think they ever saw anything like this up that way :). Although I am jealous of the Shania factor…and the giant nickle…well I guess that’s something worth doing a jumping shot infront of :)  Enjoy the photos! Leave a comment and let me knowhat you think!

As a photographer, I don’t really have photos of myself as I’m always the one behind the camera or being asked to take the photo, which is totally cool. However,  when I do have people taking photos of me, I have no idea how to act without being totally awkward or silly. It’s like even if I try to tell myself to stand or pose the way I would tell someone I’m shooting, it just feels… weird. Of course the only time I can feel comfortable and be natural is if I’m jumping in a photo, that never gets old.  :) My good friend Jade once told me, “Navy, you’re the most awkward person EVER.” Hahaha, it made me laugh and that’s why I love her, she always tells the truth. LOL. Anyway, I posted this just because… I like it. One of the few photos I have where I don’t look completely awkward and am grounded ;)

A few photos from Graffiti Alley after I finished up with the shoot with Tyce. I love just walking around and exploring. Then when I get hungry, there’s nothing like a good hotdog from a street vendor! I don’t even care how disgusting anyone thinks it is, street meat with all the goodies and condiments on top after a day of discovering is the best!

I recently did a shoot with actor Tyce Philip Phangsoa in the infamous alley known as Graffiti Alley in Toronto. This area is a graffiti mecca, where the entire alley acts as galleries of colourful, intricate, works of art. It was also a great place to shoot Tyce because of the image he wanted to achieve and the versatility of the nearby surrounding area. Not to mention his amazing energy! This guy was ready to climb, jump, and move like nobody’s business! It was great working with someone so open to ideas and ready to share his creativity. The alley can be entered off of Spadina and it runs south of Queen Street West and extends past Portland. I assume lots of folks come down here for photos, videos, and projects. I saw other photoshoots, some filming and plenty of admirers during my morning there. So if you’re downtown wandering about this summer, it’s definitely worth a detour and stroll. Another great shoot and thanks to my friend Louise for the behind the scenes photos! Best of luck to Tyce and hopefully we’ll see him on the big screen soon! He has his own IMDB page!
